Phytoestrogens is able to enhance osteoblastic OPG production through ER-α-dependent mechanisms and concurrently suppress RANKL gene expression which is associated with an inhibition of osteoclastogenesis [41], and thus estrogen deficiency will induce osteoclastogenesis to aggravate the development of osteoporosis. This evidence concerns the gene TNFSF11 and osteoporosis.
