It was reported that Caspase 8+/−/Mlkl−/− mice were better protected from TNF-induced SIRS than Caspase 8+/− mice or Mlkl−/− mice, suggesting that both caspase 8-dependnet apoptosis and MLKL-dependent necroptosis are important for the pathogenesis of TNF-induced SIRS51. This evidence concerns the gene TNF and systemic inflammatory response syndrome.
