The potential mechanisms are as follows: 1) FGF23 contributes to hypertension development by modulating the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system [30]; 2) FGF23 regulates renal sodium reabsorption by up-regulating Na+ Cl− cotransporters in renal tubules [31], and 3) high phosphorus increases renin expression and Ang II through PTH, thereby inducing hypertension [32].
