A recent study showed that chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) patients resistant to the phosphatidylinositol‐3 kinase (PI3K) inhibitor idelalisib had activating mutations in MAPK pathway genes, providing a rationale for combined PI3K/MEK inhibition in this group of CLL patients [8]. This evidence concerns the gene MAP2K7 and B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
