miR-143-5p, which was overexpressed in stage II or III vs stage I tumors in our analysis, has also been associated with more advanced disease and worse survival.35,36,37 On the contrary, miR-143-3p expression levels have been reported to be diminished in more advanced tumors.36 In colorectal cancer cell lines, overexpression of miR-143 downregulates KLF5. Here, KLF5 is linked to colorectal cancer.
