VEGFA and neoplasm: Bevacizumab is a recombinant humanized monoclonal immunoglobulin G1 antibody that binds to VEGF to decrease endothelial proliferation and formation of new blood vessels.68 Bevacizumab in primary brain cancer, such as GBM, is well known to improve progression-free survival when used alone and/or in combination with chemotherapeutic agents.69 The objective of bevacizumab is to normalize the vasculature of the tumor and improve oxygenation to aid in delivery of anti-cancer drugs.
