In human vitiligo melanocytes (PIG3V) induced by hydrogen peroxide, baicalein increased the expression of Nrf2 and its downstream gene HO-1 in PIG3V cells, promoted the translocation of Nrf2 from cytoplasm to nucleus, indicating that the protective effect of baicalein on melanocytes depends on Nrf2 signaling pathway (Ma et al., 2018). The gene discussed is NFE2L2; the disease is vitiligo.
