IFNA1 and Sjogren syndrome: To wrap up, this study adds new pieces of evidences to the relationship between class II HLA variation, autoantibody profiles and the IFN molecular signature in SS, identifies new loci and pathways involved in SS, recognizes the importance of hypermethylation events in SS pathogenesis, and it contributes to unravel the genetic regulatory architecture of Sjögren’s Syndrome, which hopefully will motivate research for the discovery of new drugs and biomarkers for SS in the near future.
