Sahlmann et al.3 revealed that SBM can cause DI tissue enteritis of Atlantic salmon and increase the expression of immune-related genes including the GTPase IMAP family, the NF-κB signaling pathway, the IL-8 signaling pathway, and regulatory factors of T cell and B cell function, and then down-regulate transcripts related to endocytosis, exocytosis, detoxification, transportation, and metabolism, thus suggesting intestinal barrier and function damage. Here, CXCL8 is linked to enteritis.
