We hypothesise that intravenous iron therapy will safely and effectively improve haemoglobin concentration and reduce the frequency of anaemia among First Nations Australians on MHD who have anaemia with low transferrin saturation (less than 40%) coexisting with high serum ferritin concentrations (> 700 μg/L and less ≤ 2000 μg/L). The gene discussed is TF; the disease is anemia (phenotype).
