These intestinotrophic actions of GLP‐2 have been exploited therapeutically with the use of the DPP‐4 resistant GLP‐2 analogue teduglutide (GLP‐2[1–33,A2G]), which since 2012 has been used in the treatment of short bowel syndrome (SBS) in adults (Jeppesen et al., 2001). This evidence concerns the gene GCG and short bowel syndrome.
