Our results support the study by Wallander et al. among 168 ACS patients which found that low IGF-1 levels may be a useful predictor of abnormal glucose metabolism in ACS patients .17 In line with our study, Teppala et al. also found that low levels of IGF-1 are associated with type 2 diabetes in a population aged less than 65 years; but here, the association disappeared in those aged ≥65 years .18 However, our findings showed that low levels of IGF-1 are associated with the presence of type 2 diabetes among ACS patients with an interquartile range of age between 56 and 72 years. The gene discussed is IGF1; the disease is type 2 diabetes mellitus.
