In addition to Smn, hnRNP R has also been found to interact with several proteins associated with frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) such as TDP-43, FUS, MATR3, EWSR1 and TAF15 (10–12). Here, HNRNPR is linked to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
