Women with amenorrhea on dialysis have been shown to have lower FSH levels than those consistent with menopausal levels, and thus they are considered to be in a pseudomenopausal state, as often kidney transplant leads to resumption of menstruation.5,8,23 We saw this in our survey results, as approximately one-third of surveyed patients reported their periods stopped before transplant, and of those patients, 61.5% had their periods resume post-transplant. The gene discussed is BRD2; the disease is amenorrhea.
