After adjustment for potential confounding factors, higher adherence to the recommendation “Enjoy a variety of foods” (measured by a dietary diversity score) showed an inverse association with breast cancer risk overall (OR = 0·46, 95 % CI (0·29, 0·70), P < 0·001), in postmenopausal women (OR = 0·48, 95 % CI (0·30, 0·77), P = 0·003) and in participants with ER+ and progesterone receptor positive (PR+) breast cancers (OR = 0·42, 95 % CI (0·26, 0·68), P < 0·001 and OR = 0·51, 95 % CI (0·31, 0·85), P = 0·010, respectively). The gene discussed is PGR; the disease is breast cancer.
