The ability of sodium butyrate to trigger cell cycle arrest and apoptosis through the generation of ROS and reduced mitochondrial membrane potential (Δψm) in breast cancer cells [81] and its positive regulatory effect on 15-LOX may suggest that 15-LOX is contributed to the production of ROS in sodium butyrate-elicited apoptosis (Data is illustrated in Fig. 6).
