These two tightly linked miRNAs are associated with a critical network of genes that are related to the control of cellular proliferation (MYC, cyclins and cyclin-dependent kinases), apoptosis (BCL2, SIRT1) or motility (SNAIL1, vimentin) all of which are linked to tumorigenesis and cancer progression (Ito et al., 2017; Misso et al., 2014; Rokavec et al., 2014). This evidence concerns the gene SIRT1 and cancer.
