Participants with severe periodontitis presented higher BMI values (26.4 vs. 25.5 kg/m2), were current smokers (25.1 vs. 16.2%), had more often diabetes (11.3 vs. 6.2 %), suffered from hypertension (72.5 vs. 54.8%), and differed in their CRP values (0.10 vs. 0.13 mg/l). Here, CRP is linked to hypertensive disorder.
