Due to the association between obesity, T2D and MAFLD, secondary outcomes of this study included improvements in glycosylated haemoglobin (HbA1c), liver stiffness as assessed by FibroScan®, and liver enzymes alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and gamma-glutamine transpeptidase (GGT), which are commonly elevated in MAFLD. This evidence concerns the gene GPT and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
