LTF and fetal growth restriction: Regarding Lf actions on the central nervous system, previous studies have shown a neuroprotective effect of Lf given through lactation to the developing brain in rat models of perinatal hypoxia–ischemia and inflammation using LPS [40,41], as well as in IUGR models based on maternal caloric restriction [42] and prenatal corticoid exposure [43], in which anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, and neurotrophic properties were observed.
