Furthermore, our results suggesting that TNF-α is not a determinant for cell death triggered in ZIKV infection are in consonance with two previous studies reporting that the inhibition of caspase-8 activation did not prevent cell death during ZIKV infection, further suggesting that the extrinsic (death receptors) apoptotic pathway is not triggered in these experimental conditions [2,10]. This evidence concerns the gene CASP8 and Zika virus infectious disease.
