BRCA1 and ovarian cancer: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has designated BRCA1/2 screening as having Tier 1 evidence [21] for reducing cancer morbidity and mortality [22], and the significance of these efforts is highlighted by the Healthy People 2030 objective to “Increase the proportion of females with a family history of cancer who receive genetic counseling for hereditary breast and/or ovarian cancer based on the most recent guidelines [23]”.
