Furthermore, the panel showed better diagnostic performance than serum AFP alone in discriminating HCC patients from LD patients, as indicated by an AUC of 0.850 (95% CI: 0.758–0.917) vs. 0.831 (95% CI: 0.736–0.902), respectively, in the training set, and combining the lipidomic biomarkers with AFP increased the AUC to 0.861 (95% CI: 0.771–0.926) (Figure 6b). This evidence concerns the gene AFP and hepatocellular carcinoma.
