ZHX2 and hepatocellular carcinoma: Wu et al. found that the expression of the antioncogene ZHX2 was significantly reduced in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)-associated HCC and that overexpression of ZHX2 inhibited the uptake of exogenous lipids and the ability of HCC cells to proliferate by suppressing LPL promoter activity, thereby delaying the progression of NAFLD-associated HCC [39].
