BCL2 and diabetes mellitus: In high-fat-diet-induced diabetic rats, polysaccharides from C. paliurus leaves markedly attenuated the symptoms of diabetes, inhibited the protein expression of Bax, increased the expression of Bcl-2 in the pancreas, normalized hormones secretion, and alleviated the levels of inflammatory mediators, which contributed to the regeneration of pancreatic β-cell and attenuation of insulin resistance [24].
