Although dedicated research is needed in order to investigate the outcomes of A2AR and A1R inhibition upon IP application in experimental models of fatty liver transplantations, the present study indicates that conditions leading to A1R stimulation can result in an enhancement of IRI in fatty liver and that A2AR agonists might effectively improve the protective effects of surgical IP by avoiding the detrimental consequence of the A1R activation in the specific procedure of steatotic liver surgery. This evidence concerns the gene ADORA2A and fatty liver disease.
