CXCR3 and type 2 diabetes mellitus: CXCL10 binds to its receptor, CXCR3, regulating immune responses through recruitment of leukocytes, such as T cells and monocytes/macrophages [44], and CXCL10 has been shown to bind with and activate toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) [45]; this is in keeping with the positive correlation between TLR4:MD-2 complex and CXCL10 seen here at baseline in the control group, a relationship not found in the T2D group, likely because the levels of TLR4:MD-2 complex were already significantly elevated at baseline in T2D.
