CD46 and thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura: Other unrelated phenotypes such as atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome, heart rate response to exercise and recovery, and blood pressure, preeclampsia, spontaneous pregnancy loss, systemic sclerosis, glomerulonephritis, and thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura have been also associated with CD46 gene variation [14], highlighting the pleiotropic function of this protein.
