M1-like TAMs, characterized by the expression of CD86, CD11c, and TLR4, show functional diversity in HCC, as they play a tumoricidal role by exerting anti-tumor cytotoxic activity but also promote tumorigenesis in the early stages of HCC through the release of several pro-inflammatory cytokines, which contributes to an inflammatory tumor microenvironment [71,375,378]. The gene discussed is CD86; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
