Therefore, it is possible that the CASQ1-STIM2 interaction is a linker between abnormal SOCE and mitochondrial abnormalities in skeletal myopathies and that functional interplay among CASQ1 and STIM2 and the subsequent changes in SOCE and Ca2+ distribution in cellular compartments are important for normal mitochondria and skeletal muscle functions.
