CNR2 and cancer: BCP is a safe compound; in fact, it did not affect healthy cells, such as human gingival fibroblasts and human oral mucosa epithelial cells, as already demonstrated in our previous study [25]; in addition, another CB2 agonist, WIN-55,212–2 mesylate, was not only effective in reducing cancer cells proliferation but was also selective toward cancer cells and not control cells (healthy cells) [10], thus supporting the hypothesis that BCP might be used in the clinical practice, affecting cancer cells and remaining safe for normal cells.
