Among direct inhibitors of NLRP3, MCC950, a selective NLRP3 inhibitor, has been shown to minimize IL-1β production in vivo and to attenuate the severity of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis, crystal-induced kidney fibrosis in mice, steroid-resistant asthma in an animal model, and diabetic kidney injury in mice [27,67,68,69]. The gene discussed is NLRP3; the disease is asthma.
