CD14 and viral infectious disease: The top overlapping genes include, for example, genes encoding cell cycle progression and differentiation (S100A8, S100A9); genes involved in the suppression of apoptosis (PLAC8); several EEF genes serving a broad range of functions in monocytes such as protein synthesis and delivery of aminoacyl tRNA to the ribosome; CD14 and IFITM3 involved in response to bacterial and viral infections, respectively; PABPC1 involved in ribosome recruitment and translation initiation; and NAPILI, playing an important role in DNA replication (Table 2).
