Compared to previous studies that evaluated other parameters (such as the leptin/adiponectin ratio, HOMA index, QUICKI index, McAuley index, triglycerides/HDL-cholesterol ratio, cholesterol/HDL-cholesterol ratio, different measurement in abdominal CT—[80,81,82,83]) for the prediction of metabolic syndrome, leptin/ghrelin appears to have at least as good, if not a better (in men) prediction capacity. This evidence concerns the gene GHRL and metabolic syndrome.
