In our results, it is likely that the high levels of IL-8, in addition to the association with the wild genotype IL8-251 AA, also influenced the pathogenesis of chronic viral infection, corroborating previous studies, such as the case of HCV in which regulatory cells (Tregs) Foxp3+ CD4+ were identified as an additional intrahepatic source of IL-8 in chronic hepatitis.
