The data on the colocalization of GAPDH and alpha-synuclein in Lewy bodies (structures that are characteristic of Parkinson’s disease) [65], together with the data on the interaction between GAPDH and alpha-synuclein in vitro [66], point to a possible involvement of GAPDH in the development of Parkinson’s disease. This evidence concerns the gene GAPDH and Parkinson disease.
