Because SIRT1 is mainly localized in the cytosol of human colon cancer cell lines (Fig. 1A,B), it is unlikely that SIRT1 acts as a transcriptional coactivator to enhance the expression of IL‐6 and IL‐8 or induces histone deacetylation to epigenetically silence the genes that are involved in inhibition of their transcription.
