In line with these findings, inhibition of the DNA repair enzyme poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase 1 (PARP1), a known negative regulator of glycolysis (Fouquerel et al., 2014), by pharmacologic inhibition with the PARP inhibitor PJ34, partially rescued IR-induced drop in glycolytic capacity at 1 h in irradiated cancer cells (Figure S8E). The gene discussed is PARP1; the disease is cancer.
