MUC16 and breast carcinoma: In clinical practice, sialylation-based cancer biomarkers such as pancreatic cancer marker CA19-9 (Sialyl-Lewis a: sLea) and the sialylated mucin biomarkers CA125 (MUC16) and CA15-3 (MUC1 analog) are used to detect ovarian and breast cancers [35,36].
