PLA2G7 and Hypoalbuminemia: Increased circulating levels of LPC are caused by a variety of physiological and pathological conditions: increased degradation of phosphatidylcholine by the lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2) or by the lecithin-cholesterol acyltransferase, LPC overproduction induced by hypoxia, decreased albumin-LPC binding caused by hypoalbuminemia, decreased LPC degradation by lysophospholipases [121,122,123,124,125,126,127].
