MIEF2 and ovarian neoplasm: In the cholesterol synthesis pathway, SREBP2 is upregulated by salt-inducible kinase 2 (SIK2), an AMPK-related kinase, and mitochondrial elongation factor 2 (MIEF2)-activated PI3K/AKT or ROS/AKT/mTOR signaling, thus, leading to the promotion of ovarian tumor growth (39, 40).
