Miszczuk, G. S. et al. (Miszczuk et al., 2018) have shown that in E217G-induced cholestasis, the canalicular transporters BSEP and MRP2 undergo exacerbated endocytic internalization caused by a shift of transporters from the caveolin-enriched plasma membrane microdomains (rafts) to the clathrin-enriched ones (non-rafts), resulting in a decrease in the transport activity of them and bile flow. Here, ABCC2 is linked to cholestasis.
