Therefore, we conducted an analysis of RNA-seq data from The Cancer Genome Atlas and mutational data from COSMIC, which indicated that POLH was overexpressed in 8 of 15 tumor types compared to matched normal tissues (SI Appendix, Fig. S5A) and that the Pol eta mutational signature (signature 9, SBS9) occurred in tumors affecting most tissues, but especially the pancreas, where almost 50% of patients displayed the signature 9-type single-base substitutions (SI Appendix, Fig. S5B).
