On univariate analysis, increasing age, male gender, use of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors, angiotensin receptor blockers, diuretics, and vasopressors, presence of chronic kidney disease, coronary artery disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, dyslipidemia, diabetes mellitus, heart failure, and hypertension, kidney transplant status, and mechanical ventilation were associated with development of AKI. This evidence concerns the gene ACE and metabolic syndrome.
