Thioredoxin interacting protein (TXNIP) is a regulatory protein involved in oxidative stress [6], which can inhibit the thioredoxin (TRX) antioxidant system and participate in the occurrence of oxidative stress in many diseases such as ischemia-reperfusion injury [7], acute lung injury [8], and atherosclerosis [9]. This evidence concerns the gene TXN and atherosclerosis.
