The involvement of the bradykinin forming cascade is shown by the findings that bronchoalveolar lavage studies of COVID-19 patients reveal marked upregulation of kallikreins, HK, and bradykinin receptors with downregulation of C1 inhibitor, ACE, ACE-2 (53) and improvement in oxygenation with a B-2 receptor antagonist (18, 53). The gene discussed is KNG1; the disease is COVID-19.
