Three of these genes (HLA-DMA, HLA-DRA, and HLA-DRB1) were enriched in the pathways of several autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, i.e., autoimmune thyroid disease, IBD, RA, and asthma (KEGG terms in Table 2), demonstrating their core functions in the pathways. This evidence concerns the gene HLA-DRB1 and autoimmune thyroid disease.
