Increased expression of C-terminal Binding Protein-1 (a transcriptional co-repressor that is activated by increased free-NADH secondary to glycolytic reprogramming) was revealed in the lungs of hypoxia-induced experimental PH and in idiopathic PAH patients to orchestrate a network of genes regulating cell proliferation and inflammation. The gene discussed is CTBP1; the disease is pulmonary arterial hypertension.
