Although the mechanisms of neurologic damage were unclear in the COVID-19 patients, sepsis, systemic inflammatory response syndrome, and possible SARS-CoV-2 interaction with the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptors in nerves, muscle, and brain were considered to discuss their involvement in the mechanism of action (Mao et al., 2020).
