EGFR and central nervous system cancer: Gliomas were identified to be the most intrinsic type of primary intracranial tumors, accounting for 27% of all CNS tumors and 80% of malignant tumors.[1,2] According to the WHO classified gliomas based on histology, it was categorized into three principal groups: astrocytoma, oligodendroglioma and oligoastrocytoma.[3] With the advancement of genomics, several molecular markers related to specific tumor phenotypes have been identified, such as IDH, PI3K, TERT, PTEN, ATRX, EGFR, PDGFR, and H3 histone family member 3A.[4–6] However, reliable markers are still lacking in the prognosis of glioma.
