The investigation of the physiological function of lncRNA Norad by Kopp et al. revealed that Norad depletion led to a degenerative phenotype characterised by increased alopecia, gray fur, kyphosis and aging-associated pathologies within the central nervous system, which is the consequence of genomic instability and mitochondrial dysfunction, explained by PUMILIO2 overexpression [33].
